  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Amazon Customer -- A Must Have Book : Understanding Your Anxious Child is extremely well written. The author takes the time to address the physiological components to further understand what is happening to your body without the negative stigma that comes attached to "anxiety". Once you can see anxiety for what it is, you can then understand how to deal with it. Dealing with our emotions and knowing that not one emotion is a negative one, helps us accept them as a reaction to a situation, rather than "bad" or "good". This takes away the stress of needing to be good rather than being at peace and in control of our feelings. This information is invaluable to parents that have children with anxiety as it goes on to explain the value of modeling behaviors that will help our children learn how to manage their anxiety to improve their lives. This book is brilliantly put together with ideas that one might have seen in a list of "what to do if your child has anxiety", written in the chronological order it needs to happen to be successful. As a parent I'm motivated to do the work and for the first time, I feel excited and confident that I can help my child. I am forever grateful to have cross paths with the opportunity to read this book. ( Reviewed in the United States on August 25, 2021 )

There was concise information about what children may physically be dealing with, emotionally be dealing with, and how it can be best supported. In the book, you'll find a how-to type of guide which lays out great strategies and techniques to best aid young ones in creating coping skills which will last a lifetime. Loads of resources to explore, too. I'll be sharing this title with colleagues and believe it to be worth the investment. Clearly the author has a superb handle on the content! There are take-aways within for adults, too. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 10, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from CL -- Practical and simple strategies : Definitely a book to have in your toolbox if you’re dealing with an anxious child (even more common now during these strange times.) The book is easy to read, written simply for the everyday parent to understand. As I was reading I was also finding strategies I could use myself or could implement in our whole family. The chapters are also broken down with clear subtitles so that I know I can go back to sections for a quick refresher when I feel like I need to. Hands on, practical strategies for your anxious child, for yourself, or for anyone who needs some strategies to turn the volume down on that critical voice in your head.
